This Whirling Dervish Show usually takes place in the early evening.

- Duration: The entire ceremony lasts approximately 60 minutes.
- Arrival Tip: We strongly recommend arriving 20 to 30 minutes before the start time. This allows you to check in your ticket, find your seat, and settle into the quiet atmosphere before the music begins.
Late arrivals are often not allowed to enter once the ritual has started. Plan to be at the door by 7:00 pm for a 7:30 pm start.

By Tram (T1 Line)
This is the easiest way. Get off at the Sultanahmet or Sirkeci stations. From there, the venue is usually just a short 5–10 minute walk.
By Marmaray
If you are coming from the Asian side, take the Marmaray to the Sirkeci Station.
On Foot
If you are staying in Sultanahmet or Eminonu, you can usually reach the venue on foot.
Taxi / Uber
Taxis can usually drop you near the venue, but many streets in the Old City are pedestrian-only in the evenings.
Seating and Atmosphere.
The venue is usually arranged around a central performance area to give visitors a clear view of the ceremony.
- Seating Arrangement: Seats are usually arranged in a circular or semi-circular pattern around the central performance area (the Semahane).
- Best Seats: Because the dervishes spin in a circle, almost every seat offers a clear view. However, front seats can make you feel closer to the movement of the ceremony, which many visitors find more immersive.
- Atmosphere: The lighting is usually dim, and the acoustics are natural. It is a space designed for meditation and focus.
Essential Rules (The Etiquette).
To respect the spiritual nature of the Sema Ceremony, all visitors are asked to follow these rules:
- Photography: No flash photography is allowed. Taking photos or videos during the actual ceremony is usually not allowed.
- Silence: Please do not talk or whisper during the performance.
- Applause: Unlike a concert, it is traditional not to applaud at the end of the ceremony. The dervishes leave the room in silence as part of the ritual.
- Phones: Switch your phone to silent or airplane mode before entering the hall.
What to Wear (Dress Code).
There is no strict religious dress code for visitors, but smart casual is the best choice. Out of respect for the tradition, we recommend:
- Avoid very short skirts or shorts.
- Wear comfortable shoes (you may need to walk on old stone floors).
- Bring a light sweater or pashmina, as some historic stone buildings can be cool even in summer.
Since the ceremony is held indoors, it is a good cultural activity in both summer and winter, even on rainy days.
Dining Near the Venue.
Since the shows are centrally located, you have excellent dining options for before or after the performance.
- Before the Show: Enjoy traditional Turkish mezes and kebabs in the restaurants around Sultanahmet Square.
- After the Show: Walk down to Sirkeci or Eminonu for famous local dessert shops or historic "Esnaf" (tradesman) restaurants that serve authentic Ottoman cuisine.
Facilities and Accessibility.
- Children: The ceremony is usually best for children aged 6 or 7 and above who can remain quiet during the performance.
- Restrooms: Basic restroom facilities are usually available, but it is better to use them before the ceremony begins.
- Waiting Area: The venue usually has a small entrance or waiting space where guests can sit quietly before the ceremony begins.
- Accessibility: Because many shows are held in historic 15th or 16th-century buildings, there may be uneven floors or small steps. Please contact us if you have specific mobility needs.
- Gift Shop: The venue may have a small area where you can find books about Rumi or dervish-themed souvenirs.
